quite but reliable server psu

I'm looking into build a new server to replace my now failing Dell poweredge 1400 dual P3 server that functions as a linux nas and need to come up with some ideas for power supplys. What I'm thinking of doing is taking the parts in my now unused late model Athlon XP(nforce2 asus) desktop system to replace the dell however I need to look into a new psu as my current one is loud as heck! and may need to get a new case.

First and foremost since this is a server build I'm concerned most about reliability & posible fire danger as I intend to have this running 24/7 and I don't want the house to catch fire while I'm away from home especially with a dog around 😉 Are there any psus that have some sort of automated shut off when things are about to go aery? Also secondly I want this server to be quite as possible(fan noise wise) since it will be in a bedroom. Also my budget isn't all the great I'm thinking $80 max and I would like something that will support up to at least 10 drives.

I've used a few Thermaltake TR2 500W in desktop systems before and which seem to be pretty well made and quite. I'm leaning towards purchasing one of these but I'm not sure if they have anything protection wise that will shut them off if about to fail. I've also heard some good things about PC power and cooling supplies although they are somewhat expensive and not that quite.

well the Corsair 550VX is really quiet and has a good reputation

while it shouldn't be an issue, the Corsair also has quite a bit more oomph on the 12V line

and finally I'm not sure about what sort of drive mix you have, but:
TR2: 8 peripheral / 2 sata
550VX: 6 peripheral / 6 sata
