Will an ATA 66 hardrive slow down a hardrive ATA100 if i used them in a master/slave deal?

oh yeah forgot to include...... i have a 2o gigger ata 66 7200rpm western dig, and a 40 gigger samsun5400rpm ata 100 if i set up the 20 gigger as master and the 40 gigger as slave will i decrease throughput cause of the ata 66? thanx:eek:

ATA33 controllers onwards generally can handle a mixture of speeds so I assume you have an ATA-100 controller so it should be able to handle both of them at their own speeds.

Of course it is gonna be slower than having them on totally seperate channels but it's a much better idea that mixing hard drives and cd-roms. Cluck it in and check that just after boot they are coming up as ata-66 and ata-100 to make doubly sure.
