I was building my friend a new machine designed for dvd burning on a budget. He chose an xp 1600 cpu for that reason. the mobo was an ecs kt 600a board. 512 ddr 400. When all the parts arrived, I assembled everything and powered on his system. the fans spun up, but we got no video. I tried another video card agp and then pci, and then tried new memory. I then slapped an xp 2400 in there and it booted right up. So i decided to rma his cpu. Before I did though, i popped it into one of my motherboards that had the xp 2400 in, and it came right up as xp 1600. I gave him back the cpu, and he tried it again in his board and we got the same thing. Anyone know of a reason that an amd xp 1600 won't work in an ecs kt 600a board(besides the fact that you get what you pay for)? The board supports it, and they use the same fsb 133. Weird and frustrating.
