Quieting Noisy Seek on Barracuda V--Found it

I just replaced a Barracuda IV with a Barracuda V. Although it's inaudible at idle, the seek noise is much louder than the Barracuda IV. Seagate doesn't seem to offer a software tool to adjust for quieter seek. I seem to remember someone suggesting that the IBM Feature Tool would work on Seagate drives. Advice would be appreciated.

Is there any info on just how different accoustic management settings affect drive performance? I found a PDF that talks all about the tool and how to use it, interesting.

Your access times go from 14 mS to 20 mS when you use those tools! :Q

At least they do with IBM drives...

Gunna try it and see what happens. I use a cuda V myself.

Edit: Tried it, definitly works! Seeks are certainly quieter now.
