When I first built my computer a couple years ago I didn't mind the noise put out by my PC, but now it's starting to bother me more and more. I'm basically looking for cheap ways to quiet my PC without having to buy a new case. Here's the specs of my system:

Antec Lanboy w/350 watt PS
Thermaltake iCage as seen here (note the 120mm fan in the front): http://www.thermaltake.com/pro...s/misc/icage/a2309.asp

3 HD's (2 of which are in the above iCage)
2 x 80mm Antec fans, one in the back and one in the bottom front.

I'm sure of a couple ways to make it quieter, such as buying new fans, but can anyone offer suggestions for new fans or anything else I can do to make it a little better? Thanks!

You need to get rid of those 80mm fans. 120mm will be less loud, so 2 yate loons 120mm should do the trick, and come fairly cheap. Or is all you can mount 80mm fans? These are the best 80mm casefans: Nexus Real Silent Case Fan SP802512L-03, Scythe Kama Flow SA8025FDB12SL and the Mechatronics A8025S12D. The latter might be hard to find.

For 120mm, Nexus Real Silent Case Fan D12SL-12 (1000rpm) Scythe S-Flex SFF21D,Scythe S-Flex SFF21E, Scythe S-Flex SFF21F (800, 1200, 1600rpm) and Noctua NF-S12-1200, Noctua NF-S12-800. I think the Nexus * yate loons * are the cheapest.

The Icage is very inefficient for HDD expansion - see my reviews of other HDD cages here: http://www.techimo.com/reviews...roduct.php?product=448 . That review has a link in it to my other review of cages. Going to 120mm fans where possible is another good idea - more CFM w/o the noise. Here is a way to mod the rear fan w/o cutting unless the fan grill back there is restrictive: http://www.techimo.com/photo/showphoto.php?photo=9079 . You should clear out any grillwork for that method - actually the grillwork on that is very restrictive and should be cut out on principle. You could get rid of the front 80mm fan and cut out the grillwork and just use it for a vent. Check the rpms of the rear fan with door open and closed. If lower with the door closed, you'll need more venting - I'd suggest anaother hole in the front bottom or you could put another 120mm fan mount there.

OTOH, you might want to just sell it if you can and get a Super Lanboy. It's larger and heavier (but not much at under 9 pounds net) but it's a functionally better case all around. A really good price for an aluminum case at Newegg with free shipping right now.
