Quieting a Shuttle SK41G

Hi,
My Shuttle SK41G can be pretty noicy, especialy after a while when the fan will start spining up only to spin down a short while after, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to make it more quiet. I been thinking about replacing the fan with a lesser noice one and run it on constant speed but I'm worried that it might become to hot then.
It got a Athlon 2000+ (Tbred) in it and I'm going to use it as a verylow used webserver (one or two visitors per day) and to record some TV with the TV card (WinTV PVR 250).

Thanks in advance

The $10 chipset cooling kits at CompUSA that have a fan labeled Jetart are good for replacing the noisy fan inside the power supplies of Shuttle XPC's. From there, you can replace your ICE Sunon fan with something like a SilenX or a Panaflo L1A, and the XPC will be the quietest thing ever.

You might check the sudhian.com forums, many more XPC owners there. Also check AT's small-form-factor forum.

Thanks, I think I'll try out this mod and then replace the regular out fan with a papst 12 db. I think I'll also add a turbo switch, going form 100 to 133 FBS, so I can run it low and cool when I don't need the power but can quickly turn it up if I have the need of it.

Unless you're into heavy modding, you don't need to do much to make an SFF quiet. With my Panaflo L1A and Adda/Jetart fan in the power supply, my Seagate 7200.7 is already the loudest part in the computer 😛
