Quietest Hard Drive

I've got my computer's noise level down to a point that the hard drive is getting annoying.
I replaced a Western Digital WD300BB (30GB) with a Maxtor 6L040L2 with fluid bearings (40GB). The Max is just slightly quieter running, but
its access noise is much higher than the WD.
A while ago I was on a thread where some were saying the Seagate Barracuda IV series are extremely quiet. Can ayone back up this claim?
If I were certain that the Segate was indeed--extremely more quiet, I would replace the Max with a Barracuda 60 Gig.
Thanks.

Yes, the Barracuda IV is a quiet drive, however it might not be that much quieter than your current hdd, YMMV.

The Barracuda IV line of drives are the quietest drives around. Just remember that the 20 & 40 gig models are quieter than the 60 & 80 gig ones since they have 1 less platter. I have the 60 gig one and it's unbelievably quiet. I too have a quiet PC, and I can't hear any idle noise at all and the seeks are very faint.

Barracuda IV is the quietest drive I have seen so far. I couldn't hear anything from it even during random read-write test run...

I have a quiet drive too. It's the Maxtor 34098H4. Even before I got my new PSU, which is frieking noisy, I couldn't hear the hard drive. I think the only time I heard it was when I had my case open.
