i broke the fan that came on the retail hs/f and replaced it with some loud thermaltake fan. this thing is really getting on my nerves, especially now that i'm home for xmas and i have my computer up on my desk as opposed to underneath or in a corner like at school.

i have no intentions of overclocking this tbird (at least not now) so what is the absolute quietest fan i can slap on here and still keep it at a acceptable temp (it runs at 47-50something now with the thermaltake beast)

Look at my sig, you can see what I use.
I've also used the GlobalWIN WBK68 for half the price with good results.

IMO the retail is one of the quietest, perhaps an enermax or a panaflow will be quieter?

i have an ALPHA 8045 with a ystech 80 mm fan. its worth the bux to go to 80 mm over 60. I could go with a pabst to get a little quieter, but its much better than the volcano 2 I was using before.

i was under the impression that all alphas were noisy as hell... is the 8045 an exception? which pabst fan would be best?

and i cant put the oem fan back on, as i said before, i broke it and had to replace it, so that isnt an option

The Alpha PAL 8045T is the heatsink itself to which you attach the fan of your choice. Your choice of fan will determine the loudness of the assembly.
This alpha sells on sale for 30 bucks at SVC. Add another 15 bucks or so for a good 80mm fan.
The GlobalWin I referred to goes for about 22 bucks for the heatsink and fan together.
