If you're considering the Silencer, consider the Freezer or the Freezer Pro. Both also made by Arctic Cooling but are better performing and quieter heatsinks. The Freezer is pretty darn cheap for what you get.

Agreed, I am using a Freezer 64 Pro with an X2 and it is dead silent

7700alcu. if you find a decent 92mm ball bearing fan for the xp 90, it will be louder than the 7700 at the same cfm. a sleeve fan on a psu isn't as good because it has MUCH less life. when the sleeve fan is about to die, it doesn't start to whine like a ball bearing fan. (so if it dies, you won't know)

This post is in response to the thread topic "Quietest Athlon X2 heatsink". The Thermaltake Sonic Tower (not to be confused with the Silent Tower)and Scythe Ninja cannot be beat, since they make NO noise when run fanless in a case with decent airflow. Taking price into account, XP-90 is great but will make infinitely more noise than the other two mentioned. And stop bashing the other people trying to help you. That leads to people not answering your questions in the future. Sarcasm can be funny in person. On a forum, it's just rude.

I'm using the regular silencer right now (the same as the TC, but the fan spins always at the same speed), and it is not silent. Not annoying, but not silent. I'll change it soon.
