quietest athlon 64 939 coolers

I've got most of my new system ready to go, but since I bought the OEM 3500+ processor, I need to find a fan/heatsink.

So, to start, my system (I think) will be as follows:
Asus A8N-SLI mobo
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Socket 939 Processor
Hitachi Deskstar 250 GB SATA Hard Drive (supposedly one of the more quite drives)
Antec SLK 1650B case (used the bundled PSU for my other system)
Vantec ION-2 350W Power Supply
GeForce 6600 GT 128MB
Pioneer 16X DVD-ROM Drive

So, I just would like to know a good, quiet CPU fan since my fans always seem to bug my roomies. I'm not looking to overclock (much ^_-) and if any of my components are so loud that the CPU fan's noise won't matter anyway, then I'd love to know that too.

Currently, I'm looking at this fan/heatsink combo.

Also, 350W should be able to handle all this, right?

Anyway, thanks in advance!

for starters the retail heatsink looks better made than that, however i looked up and its 19db which makes it one of the quietest CPU fans out for the A64 although it does keep your CPU a few degrees C warmer than the stock fan.
Also, what brand is your power supply?

edit: check out this HSF Zalman Ultra Quiet CPU Cooler CNPS7700-Cu

I'd say the zalaman 7000 alcu. the 7700 models are huge, so big that i would worry about putting one on my motherboard.

Hmm..I am using an thermalright XP-90 with AS5 and Vantec Stealth 92mm fan(20db)...very quiet and works great.....on my A643200@2550

the XP-120 works eve nbetter but it is larger....

I have this Vantec Power Supply.

I should say that I'm pretty cheap, though I have already spent more on this system than I wanted too (stupid nforce4 price jacking). And from what I'm reading, the Zalmans are quiet for the amount of cooling they offer, but not overly quiet. And wow, that Thermalright heatsink is probably out of my price range; I'd love to have it, but then again, I'd also love to have the money I would spend on it.

What would I need the Zalmans for? Just because they are great coolers and I can overclock well with them? Or because my system's in danger if I use other coolers with my current setup?

thanks for the input so far!

Are you using a 92mm case fan with your cpu? I'm reading around and it seems like you can do that (use "case" fans for your processor) - would anyone advise (for/against) it?

id say the quietest would be a xp-90/xp-120 with a 92mm/120mm silenx fan.. though that would be rather expensive :b

You should really really really think about upgrading that PSU - and its not just max wattage that matters, your CPU & video card will be pulling major power on the 12v rail, as well as the motherboard, so you need one with high amps.

I'd say...26-28A on the 12v minimum, at least 30A if you ever want to run SLI

Think about these: Antec Neopower, OCZ 520w+, Fortron 500W+, PC power & cooling 510, Enermax noisetaker 500w+

And for hsf, Zalman CNPS7000B is probably the most quiet that i know of....or a xp-90/xp-120 with a very quiet fan attached.

Oh yea and Deskstars have also been called Deathstars many times...if you buy it I hope you never find out why.

What are you willing to spend? Thermalrights xp120 /Zalman 7700 / Swiftech MX6400 ? These are VERY quiet and all pricey compared to the Arctic Cooling you are looking at. Best deal now is prob the Zalman for the $ . G-Luck If you go Xp-120 look for COMPATIBILITY with your mobo.

120mm only with the xp120.

I got my XP90 at jabtech.com..very fast shipping and they had some Panaflo fans I wanted

on the XP90 you can use a 80 or 92mm fan...I used a 92mm Vantec Stealth case fan..very quiet..20db, I have 2 Panaflo L1A made in Japan for low noise

the XP120 is huge and you need to check around to make sure it will fit your mobo...I have read the XP120 is nealry as good as watercooling/or better and the XP90 is very close.....

I used AS5 but I am not sure I would recommend this ..I wish I had read this first but when removing the HS if you are not very careful you can pull the cpu out of the socket because as the AS5 recools its like glues so you need to get the HS out quickly after shutdown

look for AS3...I am not sure the AS5 has made any siginifcant difference but I had to have the newest and best....
