Ive heard that that some fans are considerably louder than the 9700's.

Anyone had a chance to compare, I'm looking at non pros as well as pros

Most 9800 are based on the reference BBA design. I can only think of the Gigabyte 9800 Pro that has a different HSF than the reference ATI HSF. So there won't be much difference which 9800 Pro you buy, they'll generally sound the same. I wouldn't know about 9800 non-pros though.
 
I'd be buying an OEM 256MB 9800 for $450 waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy before I'd pay $570 for one with a Zalman 🙁

Like you could even hear the fan on any of them anyway.....
