Quietest 80mm fans?

Are panaflo's still the number one choice for quiet and performance? I plan to swap it out with a loud PSU fan of mine...

Yeah, Panaflos are good.

Be careful modding a power supply. That big blackout in the Northeast earlier this year was caused by shady06 trying to mod his powersupply... He still twitches involuntarily. 😛

I got 2 Panaflo L1As from SVC and I cannot hear them at all! I have never heard any fan that quiet. While the computer was running, I unplugged the fan and it didn't get any quieter (and yes, the fan stopped spinning)! I put one in my Antec PSU (in my P4 box) and one in my Athlon box as an exhaust fan.

Yes they are the quietest out there. Be careful when modding power supplies as they have lots of voltage. To discharge the power supply you should unplug it from the wall and then press the power button so that the computer starts and drains most of the power supplies charge.

I see...So Panafalo's (L1As) are still the best 🙂

Ok, so it's actually an AT PSU, so I should just leave the power switch left to on. I've also not powered it for several days now. Is there a way to measure how much voltage is still flowing within it?

Poke it with a fork.

The Papst 8400N is quieter than the Panaflo. I would go as far as to compare the Papst @ 12V to the Panaflo @ 7V.

im using the Panaflo 80mm too, no regrets about it so far,
then I got another 92mm Panaflo H1A
works just as great... prolly a little louder

No need to worry about how much. Just don't get curious poking at stuff. Pull the fan, splice the new one in and close it back up.
