I'm using the stalk Intel Fan / Heatsink, and it's loud. It does it's job very well though. CPU stays around 20-35C (3.0GHz). But, is there a quieter one that cools the same?

Yeah..No offense, but you must not be reading the right temp for your cpu....No 3.0ghz P4 with a stock heatsink and fan wil cool cpu to 20c and only load to 35c...Sorry just wont happen unless you are in a room at 50 degrees f and even then I don't think so...

What motherboard are you using???

Where are you seeing these temps????

I think at idle 20c maybe your system temp and 35c is your idle cpu temp....Probably loads in the low 50's....

I'll check again in awhile. I went into the BIOS to get the temps. The board is an Intel 875PBZ board. It's usually 65-75F in the room.

Two aluminum brackets slip into the large square holes of the black plastic HSF mount on the mobo. Set the heatsink on the processor, line the holes up with the brackets and put two screws in. It's VERY simple.

Here's an animated demo of the install. Click "how to install" under the model number I gave you on the left hand side of the page... Give it a couple seconds to load:

Looks easy enough then. This is quieter then? I hope so.

Duvie: I went in and the temps were 34-39C, which is great after being used for awhile.

Load it 100% for 30minutes plus with SuperPi 32mb or 2 instances of Prime95 and that is your high temp....These modern p4's with 85-90watts of heat with a moderate heatsink like the intel stock one still will mean near 20c from lowest idel temp to load....

Again what motherboard??? I know my abit reads high but you should still experience much larger swings in temperature.....

I have a pretty good aftermarket heatsink at about .21c/watt and at 3.5ghz I am at about 105watts estimated and thus for me 20-22c swings from idle to load are norm....

I may get a Zalman 7000cu heatsink since it has an incredible .17c/watt...

It's fully adjustable. It can be virtually silent at it's lowest setting, or a little louder at it's highest setting... but even at it's highest, it's still remarkably quieter than the stock Intel HSF.

The trick it to fully load your CPU, and then play with the fan adjuster until it's as low as you want to go with the temps you see.

My P4c 3.2 (@ 3.6) is rated up to 70c. It idles at 30c and gets to 47-48c at full load with Prime95 and SuperPi running at the same time. This is with the fan set at meduim/high

I said it's an Intel 875PBZ board. The most I do is play games 30-60mins at a time.

I'll probably order that fan and set it to medium-high, if it's quieter then the stock fan I have now then I'll keep it at medium high.

I got the Zalman today. It does run quieter and coolor (so far) hasn't been on for too long). I like how I can adjust the RPMS, I have it running @ 2000 RPMS. It's pretty cool looking too.
