Quiet Replacement for PC&C Silencer 610W

Recently, the fan on my PSU has been driving me insane with weird rattling issues. It's going on 4 years soon, so I think it's probably time regardless. I'm looking for something that's obviously very stable, modular is optional and quiet.

I saw that the Seasonic X-650 was on sale for around 119 after the promo code is activated, and based on jonnyguru it seems to be a very solid quiet PSU. Is this unit better than my old PC&C Silencer 610w? I'm also curious if there is anything better on the market than this.

Lastly, since it's been so long since I swapped out a PSU, will my CPU OC (4.2Ghz 2500k) become unstable with the current settings. It's just one annoying factor I suppose, but I'd like to know regardless.

Thanks in advance for any helpful responses.

"Modular" sounds cool and everything, but once installed all PSU's perform the same.
They may save you a couple of minutes routing cables, but that's about it.

The modular version costs $10 more, has no discount code and no free shipping.
Are those few minutes saved on cables worth $28?

5 year warranty on that PC P&C power supply.:whiste:

If you're ok with opening a power supply and want to service it yourself (and void the warranty), the fan can be replaced. I've done that on plenty of supplies - they often like to skimp on the fan, and use something with cheap sleeve bearings, which often fails within a few years.
There are some potentially dangerous things in there though, so popping open a supply isn't for everyone.

$119 is not really low price for that unit. It's been as low as $99.

Active-PFC is nothing new, all decent units have that

If you want 80+ Gold and modular for a low price, consider Rosewill Capstone 750-M $88 AP. If your power requirements are lower than they used to be, you can get a Capstone 450-M for $56 AP.

Considering the long wait time on RMAs I'm not sure that I would enjoy having no PC (just a tablet :/) for a while. Unless they ship the replacement first before I have to send in my PSU I can't see that working. I guess I'll call just to see.

Most hard drive companies do that: "Advance replacement." They'll want a credit card though - a hold will appear on your card, they'll ship you a replacement, and then the hold disappears once they get the defective unit. And of course, if the defective one doesn't show up before the deadline, the hold turns into a charge. 🙂

I don't know if PCP&C is set up to do that though.

A Rosewell psu, that's funny! You really have me in splits! Never as in EVER for any of my builds. I have too much respect for everything else. Just the Sanyo Denki San Ace PWM silent fan on the XYYY series of Seasonic is nearly half the cost of a Crapstone. The quality isn't in the same stratosphere. Rosewell...😵...LOL!

Do you even have any clue what you are talking about when you are insulting the Capstone? This is NOT like any of the other Rosewill products out there.

Can you type in normal black text please?

FYI it's Rosewill, not Rosewell.

Everyone knows Seasonic X series is pure awesome, but also very expensive. The Rosewill Capstones are demonstrably good quality and are much more worth their price tag than the X series. And I say this as an owner of the X-650.

Yeah, I do! And allow me to reiterate, it's no X650 Seasonic by any stretch. Let's use your source, where the only hit is value and that's completely subjective. Money is only money...you can't take it with you.

Reviews that praise the X-650 are not the same as negative reviews of the Capstone.

Your initial contention was that the Capstone is not a good unit, which others disagreed with and refuted. That's why people asked if you had any idea what you're talking about. You still haven't actually shown anything that says the Capstones are bad supplies.

It's nice to be so rich that money is only money. You do realize not everyone can afford such a stance, right? I did not say the Capstone is on the same level as the Seasonic. But for that kind of price difference many people do not feel the difference is worth it. For you to call it a Crapstone is insulting and childish.

I hate to break it to you but not everyone can afford caviar and truffles for breakfast.
