Quiet PSUs...

hi everyone,
recently I remember there was a company that released a PSU with no fan.
I don't know how reliable such a PSU could be... I wouldn't buy one because it too new.

I currently have an Antec SX635BII with a Smartpower SL350. My video card has no fan. I've got a thermaltake volcano on my cpu with a rheostat set at the lowest setting.

No overclocking of course :)

How can I silence my computer further?

Check out your system fans. Also check out your HDDs. HDDs could be the noise maker. As for PSU, Truepower series from antec are decently quiet.

I have been experimenting with quieting down my computer lately. I know two companies that make silent PSU's, they are listed below.

SilentX: http://www.silenx.com/productcart/pc/mainindex.asp
Coolmax: http://www.coolmaxusa.com/

You can try putting a heatsink on the hardrive where the motor is. Should be the round metal at the bottom.
Use rubber gourmets when mounting the hardrives.

Get some acoustic foam. Just be careful your not blocking the air flow. Some acoustic fabric is nice also.

If you are still not satisfied with your cpu fan noise, try using 120mm fans and turn down the speed.
I went to Lowes and got some cloth dryer ducks for the fan to the heatsink.

Lastly you can go with water cooling where the only noise is the pump.

Water cooling involves a radiator too, I am pretty sure you need a fan on there.

You may want to look into power supplies with a single 14cm fan on them. Fortron makes one, and I heard it is pretty good. I have only had mine a few days, so I can't really say anything about reliability (although the rails are stable as hell, 3.3 and 5.0 are right on the dot, and 12 is at 12.5 which I think is better), the fan can be adjusted from silent (decent air flow) to a little louder than a regular 80mm fan (crazy airflow that pushes over your desk and makes your curtains fly around... kinda).

If your radiator is big enough you wont need a fan. It also depends on your radiator design.

Wow, I didn't know there was 14cm fans, nice to know.
