Quiet Power Supply

I had a custom computer built 4 or 5 years ago. The power supply is now going out. I really liked what I had as it was very quiet and when I loaded the computer, the fan came on. This was great. It would be quiet all the time but when I loaded the computer the fan came on for minimal amount of time. The power supply does not have a manufacturer or model number on it. What brand of power supplies does this. Because I sleep in the same room as the computer and the computer is on 24/7, quiet really helps. Any suggestions? Cost is no object.

How many watts do you need, and what size of PSU are you looking for? Higher wattage usually means louder fans, although that's not always the case. Check out this site and see if there's anything that looks good to you.

This particular link is a little dated, but if you want to explore the site it should give you a fairly good idea about the options that are available.

If you buy a much larger PSU than you need, any decent brand will do that. What are your PC's specs?
