Thanks to all that replied to my "Quiet Power Supply" thread.

I decided to replace my Enermax 365P VE with a new TruePower 430 from Antec. What a difference! I am very pleased. My PC is now MUCH quieter than before. Unfortunately, my quest for a quiet PC appear to have only just begun. Now I can hear my HSF and hard drive, albeit at much, much lower noise levels than that 365P. As long as the WD HD isn't seeking, the only thing I can hear is my old Volcano 5 HSF. This is definitely acceptable.

I've kind of got to ask myself. I thought that when I bought the P365, I was getting a high quality PS (good design implied). What was Enermax thinking when they made that PS so noisy. I guess they were in a rush to get adequate power supplies for the Athlons, but still...that unit was ridiculously, uncomfortably, undeniably, inexcusably LOUD!

I can't deny though that I had no power problems with the Enermax. I guess I'll try to mod it by installing some quieter fans. A few folks have recommended Panaflo L1A's. Suggestions as to where to buy and how difficult a job is it.

Thanks,

Kevin

Replacing fans is easy.

Just open it up, undo the screws, clip the leads, & splice in your new fan. Close it back up & go.

I've made two extremely quiet PS's that way, with very good results.

I used QuietPC's 80 mm case fans, which are the same as PC Power & Cooling sells. Very quiet, but they're expensive.

I've done two Enermaxes with 80mm Panaflo L1A's and just got rid of the internal 92mm fan--much quieter and, if anything, a bit cooler case temps.
