I just built a system and I like my silence or at least as much as possible.

Intel P4 3.0ghz 800 FSB
Antec 1080 AMG plus Case
Intel D875PBZ motherboard

I need to get a quieter fan/heat sinc than the one the proccessor came with.

I've heard the Zalman is the way to go. Is that the consensus? And what Zalman model do you recommend ( CNPS7000-Cu ) ?

also i need one more quiet 80mm fan. Would a Zalman fan be a good solution ?

thanks

I run a Zalman 7000 AlCu on mine 3.0 @ 3.2. It idles around 29C and hits about 45C under a heavy load. It's *much* quieter than the stock unit.

thanks for the response prong..

I ordered one yesterday. hopefully that should reduce the sound emitted by the stock intel cooler.
I also ordered 2 stealth 80mm fans for the case
and 2 fanmates.

so in the end i'll have 4 or 5 case fans running at low speed (1500 rpms) and then add the new Zalman to the cpu.

so do the trick. :)

I sure hope you're not even thinking of overclocking with 1500rpm fans! They definately cannot push enough air around for the heat of an overclocked system. I run high speed sunon 50cfm fans on my case with a 4800RPM thermaltake 75CFM fan on my CPU. It's not as loud as people make it out to be unless you listen closely for it.

*edit*just noticed you're running an Intel board so it will not be overclockable anyway
