Looks really nice. The only thing that caught my eye was that you picked out a board with a fan on the northbridge. I have no idea if it's a loud fan though.

Pretty similar to one of mine but I have the 500W S12 and a 3200+ Winnie........the loudest thing will be the Northbridge but there are ways around that too! 😉

Are you going to O/C I suppose? if not, you could save some by buying less expensive ram........but who am I to talk.......I run Corsair XMS XLL! LOL!

I've never had experience with Nexus fans, but of course with all fans, the more you add the more noise there will be. Especially intake fans near the front of cases.

Nexus fans are THE top of the line for reliability and quiet! 😉

oooh, I think I skipped over that ram listed when I looked it over. I agree with EndGame on getting more affordable ram. $85 can get you a gig of Corsair value select. TwinMOS can be had for a little over $100 and it will take a lot of voltage for excellent timings and speed if you're looking to overclock.

Hey thanks for the comments so far!

I'm excited about how the Gigabyte card will turn out for me.

Regardin the Northbridge, yea i'll give the stock fan a week and if i'm not happy I guess I'll have to start hacking a Zalman ZM-NB47J to fit under the video card.

I'm not sure if two passive coolers are a good idea next to each other though.
With the stock northbridge fan i'm figuring it would help cool the gigabye x800xl alittle.

But hey, mabye the two 120mm case fans and the 92mm cpu fan will move enough air around in the case to cool both a passive northbridge and video card! What you do guys think?

Two ways to do it................connect the Northbridge fan to a controller and turn it down or go passive. Personally, I won't replace an active Northbridge with a passive sink so I control mine when it's not under load, then turn it up when gaming/doing intense stuff..........

Like I said, the only real noise I hear from my case is the Northbridge fan. You may want to invest in an ATI silencer too.............I have them on all mine!😉

it's like a whine.............I just turned mine up to try and describe it.......like a fairly high sounding whine is the best way I can describe it..............

This is the one I use.....but it by no means is "the best"......just the one i chose and I'm happy!
Zalman Fan controller

Just note that Gigabyte makes a full N-Force 4 SLI board with a passively cooled Northbridge. You can read about it here.

I keep mentioning that board on these forums in the hope that somebody will buy it and let me know how it works. I'm too chicken to be the first!

By the way Endgame, I love the idea of controlling the Northbridge fan with a fan controller. I never thought of that! That's definitely one way to cure the ASUS SLI Deluxe fan whine.
