Is there a quiet hard drive comparable to the WD 800JB?

I'm looking for a quiet one to go in an XP 1900 system.

Any recommendations?

Check out Seagate's Barracuda IV series, tyey're supposed to be pretty quiet.

You can also check out AVSForum.

Those guys really like quiet hard drives since they have their HTPC's right where thy're watching a movie.

Hope this helps!

i've been using Maxtor's and been very happy with the lack of noise. even the non-fluid bearing drives.

quiet pc is a good place too.
good luck

my 120 GB version (ST120026A) is silent. There is ZERO seek noise, and a slight slight spinning noise if you put your ear to the drive.

Its also one of the fastest IDE drives on the market right now...along with the Hitachi 180GXP, I dont know how quite those are though.
