Quiet fan for THERMALRIGHT XP-120

Are you going to be using a fan controller? I have a SD 120x38mm fan that does 108cfm@12V, but it's silent on low with a fan controller. ~50cfm, and it's wonderful. 🙂

Mod a 14cm fan onto it. then best of all you'll get even more air flowing down onto the surrounding 'bits' and get more airflow at lower noise levels. 😀

well, you should do. Alas, that probably wouldn't work.

Nexus (which are Yate Loon's but made to be effectively undervolted)
CoolerMaster LED if you want blue leds, they're apparently quite quiet.
I've found my aerocool trbine thing (16blades, google for it) to be quiet and push a reasonable chunk of air, but i don't think it'd work pushing air through the heatsink fins very well)

Guys has anybody looked at the Thermalright HR-01, apparently it's the first passive cooling solution...it uses a case fan or something like this and works as well as other active (fan) solutions.

Any opinions on this?

THANKS!

It hurts to say this because I love ThermalRight products. They are the Lian Li or Sanyo
Denki of HSs, imho.

Go with the Scythe Ninja for a passive tower. If you want to use the blue duct that i$ an
option for the HR-01 go that way. *sigh* It still hurts to say it 😉

Thermaltake's specs are known to be lies, don't buy into their marketing tatics.

YES!! Thermaltake mis represents what the actual specs of there fans are.

Personally I would get a Coolermaster fan....

I use Coolermaster fans almost exclusively in both my riggs!!!

Yate Loon 120s don't work with Thermalright's retention clips due to the way they mold the fan body 🙁 quite a shame since they're a good value. Akasa looks very good.

Maybe we can all send the OP 2 bucks via Paypal to get him to be our Scythe fan guinea pig 😀

I'd accept that challenge! lol, if i could only find a damn Scythe to buy in this country. Akasa Amber 120mm probably best bet ten if not, but nno, go for the Scythe 1200rpm. you will obey us and report back all of your findings. 🙂

I have mine running with a U1A Panaflo /w Q-Fan. I also have it hooked up to the Zalman fan controller, perfectly quiet.

Yup, you sure can  Personally I'd rather spend an extra 6 bucks for something that already fits, but that works.
