Quiet down Delta fan

I have a 5000RPM delta 80x80 Fan rated to move 54CFM and make 48db noise with a thermaltake dragon orb 3 hs. My temps get to the lower 40s at full load (1700+@1630mhz. 1775Vcore). The thing is that I can't stand that noise anymore, and since I wouldn't mind my temps to climb up to 50C I was thinking to slow it down so it would make less noise. Let's say make it a 3800RPM nearly 40 CFM and less than 40db noise... Anyone knows a good way to do that? Any articles link about that? Anyone did it?. Thanks a lot

Run your fan at 7 volts. Keep the positive (red) wire where it's at and move the black wire to the +5v rail. You won't be able to do this if it's plugged into you motherboard but if you have it hooked to a 4-pin molex, then it's no prob. This will slow the speed of the fan and lessen the noise considerably.

Thanks a lot, that's an easy way to do that really. But I didn't get it so clearly. I have it on a 4 pin molex, so, I leave the red where it is (5v), then, which black should I move? the one next to the red or the one next to the yellow?. I just hook it up with the other? Thanks a lot.

**UPDATE** Now I understand what you were sayin, u were takin about the fan connectors, not the 4 pin ones. I've just done it and it really slowed down my delta. Don't know how much cause now my motherboard's sensor shows 0 RPM on that fan, and the sensor is connected. Still workin' fine though, and very silent to me, should be around 30-35dB I think. My CPU temps climbed 7C so far, it's at 42 now, was at 35 before, I'll try some benchmarkin', gaming, etc. to see how high it goes at full load.
