Hello, I am looking for a quiet cpu fan.. I did a search of the forums and found a few results but here is my problem
I am not sure what size to get...
I pulled the fan off of my cpu and it is an NMB 1606kl.. it seems like it is a 50mm fan?
but the quiet ones that are recommended in the archives are much bigger.. what are my options as the two clips that hold the heatsink onto the processor
do not seem to have a lot of room in between them for a bigger fan..
thanks in advance

You want to replace the whole heatsink/fan combo?

If so, for what kind of cpu and motherboard?

You can use a Panaflo L1 80mm fan for that GC68 HSF, but it'll be significantly worse-performing.

If you have a ruler that meaures in mili meters then measure it, otherwise measure it to see if it is 2 3/8 inches across. If so then that is 60mm, if under then it most likey is 50mm. But measure to be sure.

Best places to order 50mm fans is from KDC. They have all other sizes also. If 60mm above then check kdc or svc ;)

hello, this is probably a stupid question but you should measure accross not diagonally, right?
if so then it seems that the NMB 1606KL is actually a 40mm fan..
I really just need a very quiet fan as this one is extremely loud and annoying
thanks

Sorry, I should have said that. 2 3/8 inches is the length across a 60mm fan, not diagonally. It's just under 3 1/4 diagonally.

I don't have any 50 or 40mm fans here, otherwise I would measure them. If you want quiet then look for a fan under 35db. Lower the quieter of course but usually also less air being pushed.
