Welcome to the Anandtech forums!

If you do a search of the forums, you will find a ton of info on Panaflo L1A 80mm fans. They're easily available, cheap (www.bgmicro.com), and very quiet. Another name that pops up a lot is Papst...those are harder to find and I really don't know much about them. :)

But I just snagged 10 of those Panaflos and put one as a replacement power supply fan, 1 as a CPU fan on my Alpha 8045 heatsink, and one as a case fan (er once the case arrives ;)).

This depends on your CPU and heat sink. If you say what you're using, you may get more relevant suggestions.

If you had a current processor, I would suggest a sk6 with an 80mm fan. preferably your 80mm fan would be the Enermax speed adjustable one

I see the 12dB Pabst 80mm fan listed at Plycon, but he's out of stock right now. Remember that after you pass a certain point with quiet fans, you'll need to consider your hard-drive noise too.

if you have the money, swiftech mcx462-b (bare) put an 80mm sunon 39cfm 3 pin fan on it, keeps my xp 1700 at 31 idle, 36 load, it cools great and is quiet.
