Quiet case fan suggestions for 80 and 120mm (another overasked question)

I am replacing the fans in my Antec KS188 case (too loud!) with some of the quietest fans I can find. To replace the 80mm's (including in my PS) case I'm thinking of going with PP&C Silencers since they are only 20dB and still move a decent 28cfm. I am already cutting out the grills with those little itsy bitsy holes to improve fan flow, so I was thinking of putting a 120mm fan up front if it is worth it (not sure if it will be too loud). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, since I'm not sure which way to go. The quietest 120mm fan I found was the Panaflo L1A at 30dB and about 69 cfm. Also (I know, there are waaay too many questions) I was wondering where to buy the panaflo if I go with it. Subzeropc has it but I have never done business with them and I know the panaflo fans are pretty popular on this forum. I really have to thank anyone for tackling this probably overasked set of questions.

The Silencers are nice, but I have a silencer and some panaflo l1A's around the desk here, and the Panaflo's feel a tad stronger. The Silencers are a bit more quiet, but they feel very weak.

Mike
p.s. if you want 80mm l1A panaflo's, you can get them for $4 a piece from http://teamawe.homepage.com. That's an almost unbeatable price, cause you can end up getting 4 80mm fans like I did for $19.

Mike....thanks for the feedback.

That's strange that the panaflo's feel stronger, cuz they are rated at 4 less cfm's (24) than the silencers. But, I will take your word for it because I see your advice popping up all over these forums, and you have always have great advice and are very on top of things.
Thanks. ;)

They're roughly the same, but the silencers are quieter and feel weaker.. i haven't tested this out yet, but if you live in the L.A. area and want to come over and borrow both you're welcome to.

Mike
If you're looking for quiet, you can't go wrong with either. but the panaflo's are cheaper :)

Thanks for the advice....Too bad I live in PA or I would take you up on your offer ;). For only 4 bucks, those panaflo's might be too hard to pass up. Any experience with the 120mm version? I would assume teamawe has decent prices on those as well. Thanks again.

his prices aren't that great on the 120mm, but it's probably comparable to anywhere else you'll buy it. the reason his 80mm's are soo cheap is cause he orders from peerless, who'll sell you 10 80mms for 3.50 each or something like that...

Mike
P.S. if you've seen my case pics, my side intake fan is a 120mm Panaflo l1A. its nice, but noticeably louder than the rest of my fans.

you tried turning the voltage down on that 120 mike?

Absolutely silent at 7v, pretty good at 9v (though this is harder to achieve!)

Yeah, my fanbus turns down my 92mms and 120mm fans to 7 volts at night when I go to sleep, or when i'm not playing games.

Thanks for the URL, now I may finally be able to leave my comp. on over night. :) Also, where do you adjust the voltage on fans?

You can either hardwire the fans to 7 volt, or 5 volt, or leave it at the default 12 volt. With either the panaflo l1A's or PcPowerCooling Silencers, I wouldn't bother dropping the voltage. The hit it creates on the airflow is just too much. And they are quiet enough without dropping the voltage.

The Panaflo 120 fans are great. I ordered 4 of them from http://www.subzeropc.com on monday. I installed them in blowholes yesterday to replace the loud ass sunon fans that I was using. My case is so much quieter now. I can finally sleep at night!
