Hello,

I'm thinking about getting an AMD XP (2000+) and I would prefer a quiet system. I'm looking at a quiet PS (350 or 430W Enermax or Antec - whichever is available), and Seagate Barracuda HD. The problem is the HSF. I'm not going to OC the chip and the temps around here can get to 30°C (room temp). Here are my questions:

Is the stock AMD HSF quiet and reliable?
Any experience with the Volcano 7CU+ (which speed setting works for you)?
Any experience with the Antec (or similar model) cooler?
Any other suggestion(s) for a quiet system?

I realize I can't get absolute silence, and it won't be too much of an issue when I game. However, when I'm doing 2D stuff I would like a relatively silent machine.

Thanks.

I have an Athlon XP 1800+ and the stock hsf is loud. If you are thinging about leaving the pc on while you want to sleep in the same room the pc is in, you really have to get use to the noise. Hope that helps at least one of your questions.
