Quiet AMD CPU cooling?

EDIT: Okay... I got my northbridge taken care of. 😛

Now I need to do my CPU... the retail fan cools find, but I want to lower all fan noise in my system. Should I get a complete Zalman CPU kit or just replace fan, etc? I don't want to spend $40 on CPU cooling if I can help it....

I've used Zalman on two different boards with no problems.
They come with the hardware needed too

My falconrock is pretty quiet. But there are better HSFs out there.

~53C (loaded) 2ghz (166 FSB) Athlon 2400+ 🙂

My Thermaltake TR2TT? is very very quiet for about $13 shipped from newegg. I even have my xp 2500+ overclocked to 3200+. Max temp at full load is 62. I don't hear the cpu fan, only the 5 cases fan that I have.

62 full load.. AND u have 5 fans?...

silentboost is good my max load is 52 @ on my o/ced amd 2400... and all i have is 1 rear exhaust fan

SilentBoost isnt to bad. Works for me.

That's what I use in my system. It is an excellent cooler. I installed one in my father's system because he wanted to reduce the overall noise, and it made a big difference. He is quite pleased with the current setup. I also put one in my friend's A64 system. I highly recommend it.

Zalman 7000s are excellent, very quiet

(I don't know your budget, so I'm assuming you don't mind spending a little bit of cash for the quietness and still having a good system.)

If this Zalman isn't quiet enough, then get an SLK948U with a Panaflo H1 fan on it. That will definitely be quiet enough. 🙂

I use an Akasa heatsink (King Copper) which resembles a FalconRock closely. At 2400rpm, you can hear the fan, but when it's dialed down, it's very quiet. The FalconRock heatsinks are even quieter.

Well, hehe, what can you expect for a $13 fan. I think that is very good. Plus I live in a hot area. Normal temp here is around 32 degrees already. 62 degrees for full load is acceptable for an overclocked cpu. I run mine at 1.75 v. I usually run around 42 for regular.
