Does anyone know of the quietest fans for your buck. I am a high school student and don't have much money after building a computer. So if anyone knows what are the best fans for your dollars airflow/sound wise let me know please!

yeah Panaflow's are great. You might look into getting a fan controller if sound is that much of an issue. You probably can pick up a used one for cheap.

Saw it in the hot deals forum a while back.

The only caveat is that these are produced in China, there are others that are produced in Japan. Some people warned me that these were not as high quality as the 'japanaflos', but I ordered 20 anyway. I have 9 of them installed in various systems with some @12V and others @5V with no problems yet.

I've heard that all the current Panaflows are just as good as the Japanese counter parts. Also all Panaflow production will shifted to China eventually from what I understand.

Those are 2 pin connectors, you can plug them into your 3 pin fan headers on your MB but you'll have to make a small modification. You should be able to figure out what I mean from this pic from SPCR.

I really don't think you'll need a fan controller for L1A's unless you?re going for extreme silence but if you do you can always take that on after you have the fans.

I bought these at bg micro before and they are nice, buy more than you think you need. I have some running uncontrolled and some on controllers - some bearing noise down low on the controlllers.

As for the pin mod. Take an exacto and cut off the guide tabs...takes 5 seconds per fan then plug into the proper two pins and ignore the rmp pin.

you could buy any cheap fans and then 7v or 5v mod them with a soldering iron, although airflow will be substantially lower (<2000RPM) so i just leave my case open
