QuickTime under Vista

In trying to fix my wife's slow boot, sometimes, I noticed Quicktime is set to start at startup.
Is the Register the only way to change this? If I go into the register is there a different variable I should set at start time? I think it is /atboottime or like this. It only needs to run if a file that is associated to it runs. Thanks.

P.S. Where do you find 'Set Associations' in Vista Home Premium? It is easy in Windows 2000.

Start> Run > msconfig

Startup tab, remove crap you dont want to start at boot. Reboot. Quicktime has a nasty habbit of putting its self back in unless you disable it in program options

there is usually an option in quicktime settings or preferences to not load at windows start, best to check there first.

I could not locate a start options control. It probably happens once at installation time. I went the msconfig route. I did not check to see if it stayed out of boot. There is still something, and maybe Quicktime, that shows the Microsoft screen followed by a black screen and then the desktop shows.
Thanks for ideas.
