Quicktime 7.0

I was forced to download this because I kept getting "quicktime 5.0 or later version needed" in every video or application involving quicktime.

I have no idea WHY it is doing this because it never did before..

I downloaded it, installed it...but it will not work.

I dont see quicktime in my start panel..

No Icon on my desktop, tried to use a quicktime application and it didn't work.

Now real player is running everything...and I HATE IT.

(because not all programs are compatible with real player)

I have NO IDEA WHY IT IS DOING THIS.

It would be very helpful of you guys if I could actually recieve some replys..

Thank you.

Can you give some examples of sites that do not work? If you go to Control Panel / QuickTime, under the File Types tab, make sure the file types you are trying to use are selected.

Windows Media Player is still installed on my computer, I can open it from my start panel and play CD's but it will not run applications on the internet.

It did 3 days ago, now it will not.

What the hell is going on???

Have you tried uninstalling Realplayer so that some other application MUST open up those files since it is the software you don't want to work?

Does Quicktime or WMP work then?

I have had issues in the past when not paying attention and just clicking yes to a box such that real player takes over the duties to play every media file on my computer.

If that works and you absolutely have to have it, reinstall Realplayer making sure to not let it take control of any file types.

Good Luck!

It's very difficult to help you if you don't respond or acknowledge our suggestions.

I also listed a question about Windows Media Player, which has not recieved an answer.

All three players (Windows Media Player, Real Player and QuickTime) have screwed up your file associations. My suggestion is to uninstall Real Player and see if that improves your situation. You'll have to go into the preferences of the individual programs to set which file types should open with which programs.

Ok, I installed Quicktime alternative...but its running everything in REAL PLAYER.

It used to say "Quicktime 5.0 or later required" now it just runs the program in real player.

And it wont stream anything, it downloads it directly to the computer...when on quicktime it streamed the programs..

wtf is going on?

First I lose my bookmarks because Mozilla has s**t code...now this crap!??!

i would uninstall QT, QT Alternative and Real Player.

then just install QT Alternative.

no sane person should have real player on their computer.

or install both QT Alternative and Real Alternative

Are you still trolling this forum? Perhaps no one wants to help you, because of your habit of getting angry at failed/wrong advice and coming back to post half-a-dozen threads calling everyone here 'jerks-offs.'

In light of this, and your other stated problems (firefox not working, ctrl+alt+del not working,) I would suggest you format and reinstall. You seem to have many problems that may or may not be caused by a combination of corrupt installations, hacked files, and 1D-10t errors.

It's not necessary. RealPlayer has taken over his file associations. That's all that's going on here. If he removes RealPlayer and/or adjusts his file associations, things should be back to normal.

But taking into consideration his other recent threads/posts, something may be fundamentally wrong with his PC or the way he is using it.

That's my line!

Thanks for reminding me of who this is. I won't waste any more time on this loser.

I tried to uninstall real, but it said not all files could be uninstalled.

I think I deleted Quicktime..

Really weird thing is going on.

Whenever I download a video, it downloads but it will not open.

Programs that use to run on Windows Media apparently wont open in it.

Why isn't windows media player opening for videos on the internet, but it will open when I click on it in my start panel??!!!

BTW, I cannot install quicktime...
I tried to..but it wont.

In Windows Media Player, under Tools / Options / File Types, what do you have checked?
