I remove the following but QT puts it back. Any way to permantely get rid of it without uninstalling QT?

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"QuickTime Task"="\"C:\\Program Files\\QuickTime\\qttask.exe\" -atboottime"

Go to Control Panel|Quicktime|Browser Plug-In and deactivate "Quicktime system tray icon".

It has already disabled that when I first installed. This must not be the tray icon loader. Anyone know?
BTW, QT isn't in the Control Panel in WinXP. To get to the settings in, you have to go to Edit/Preferences/Quicktime Preferences/Browser Plugin.

Which version are you talking about? I'm talking about the latest 6.02 (standalone version). And there must be an QT icon in the Control Panel of WinXP. Otherwise something went wrong during the setup.

check these NG articles out, maybe they can help:

It's version 6 something. BTW, by default you can't see the icon in XP's Ctrl Pnl. You have to select Classic View first.
For some reason it's not in the startup in the registry anymore. No idea why. Hopefully it won't come back.
