I replaced my Ethernet setup today with Microsoft's 802.11G router and PCI adapter. Installation was a breeze using the setup CD and carefully following the quick start instructions (I'm n00bish in this area  ). I like how enabling the WEP encryption was part of the installation. The only difficulty I had was adding my eMachines laptop to the network--Turns out I had to use a Fn key to manually turn on the built-in wireless adapter. I'm getting maximum connection speeds (The properties window shows 54G and max signal strength) in a bedroom that's 30' from the base station. The lappy also gets max speed when I use it downstairs. I've been playing Call of Duty multiplayer with ping times of 40 to 50 on my favorite server, which is comparable to the old ethernet setup.

So--Very happy with the router. The model number is MN-700. The PCI adapter is MN-730. The eMachines laptop has a built-in Broadcom Wireless G adapter. ISP is Time Warner Roadrunner. (Anyone wanna buy a D-Link DI-704 router with print server? :D )

You can add the D-Link to the Microsoft and get few additional Switch ports and Printer Server to the Network.

Change the D-Link IP to be of the same band as the Microsoft. Disable DHCP on the DI-704. Use any CAT5 cable (the switch on the Microsoft is auto sensing), connect regular port regular port.

Just got it. Setup was an absolute breeze on my two Windows lappies. Unfortuntely, unable to get my dad's iMac setup just yet. Getting a signal, but not showing on the router homepage, and I'm not able to browse the web. Might be a proxy setting problem. The range is so-so so far, but I have yet to do any tweaking. Worked flawlessly out of the box though. PEACE.

Just don't lose that disc!

I actually came on here looking for a way to get the software. I'm trying to add a wired computer to the base station, but we can't find the install disc. Microsoft only has an update online. grrrrr!

If any of you have the disc and wouldn't mind dumping the contents into a zip and sending it my way I would appretiate it greatly. Let me know and we can figure out the easiest way.

Welcome to the Network Forum.

You do not need any software to a Add a computer to the Router.

Just plug it in. If it does not work you have to configure Windows Network to the correct settings.

Log to this page it has a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network Setting and Sharing.
