Quicken Question.

Ok, I'm looking for quicken files on a troubled HD. Do I just need to get the .QDF files or do I need the QTX, QSD, QPH, QEL and QDF files?

I thought you just need the QDF but what are the other 4 types for?

I've always backed up all 5 of those files. I've never read any documentation that said you don't need all 5 of the files. So, I would back up all 5 just in case. I have no idea what each file does.

Hmm, this is weird, I found backups on this HD that have .QPH .QEL .QDF .IDX. So it looks like I'm missing the . QTX .QSD and somewhere I got a .IDX. Ugg, strangeness.

BTComm1,
I have used quicken for years and have only needed the QDF files. I have a folder that i back up files to and i have transeferred only the .QDF files to a new pc and have had no trouble using only that file to recreate my account in another install.

Good luck recovering the files!
