This week's Best Buy circular has Quicken Deluxe for $49.95. Price Match it at Office Depot and use the $15 off $50 purchase coupon code you can find at FatWallet. Then, use the $30 MIB with combined purchase of TurboTax or TurboTax Deluxe 2000 to bring final price to $5:

59.99 Office Depot Price
-10.00 Price match with BestBuy circular in this weekend's paper (page 24)
-15.00 coupon code found at www.FatWallet.com
-30.00 MIR
------
4.99 final price (plus sales tax)

If you don't want to get Turbo Tax, there is a $20 MIR in the box for a final price of $15.

This is just what I'm looking for. Could you answer a couple of questions? I presume you mean to PM at the OD B&M, not online? How do you do that? I've never price matched at the store. Also, I don't really want the Tax software. Could you check on the $20 rebate and see whether it's just for an upgrade? In other words, do I have to have an older version of Quicken to get this rebate? Thanks for your help!

savvy,

Quicken has had a mail-in upgrade rebate in the box for years. Yes, you do need to attach proof of previous ownership, but the proof is very easy: i.e. a photocopy of an original installation CD or floppy (even if it's only the Quicken SE version that is OEM'd). This was a pretty good deal back when Staples.com had $25 off $50. I already have Quicken 2000, and only use it sparingly so it wasn't worth it to me to upgrade. If I were you, I would wait a few months.. Quicken 2002 is not that far away.

Just walk into the Office Depot store with a copy of the weekly ad circular from BestBuy and show them their price in the add. OD will match their price. You may have to go to the customer service desk to do it. And don't forget to buy an extra bic pen or paper clips so your total is over $50 and they will accept the $15 off $50 coupon.

Classic! I'm dating an employee of Intuit, and the employee price for their software is $10. Funny that the public can get it cheaper than their own employees!
