Quick XP Question

I am going to transfer files from a completely virus and trojan filled computer (They've given up with trying to clean the computer), to a new hard drive to use in the same computer.

I was wondering the best way to transfer the files (word documents, pictures), desktop settings (icon location, etc.), and anything else.

Would transferring these files, with the Microsoft Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, also transfer the probably dozens of viruses on the computer?

probably the safest bet would be to use a Linux live cd with virus detection to scan the files and copy those that arent infected or are clean. Otherwise you probably will end up infecting the new drive.

If they are file infecting viri then yes, if they are strickly installed trojans then no...
