It does, yes. That's what I use (VGA) on my Bravia.
As far as component goes, I dont know of a TV that support 1080P via component, but I'm not on the up-and-up with HDTVs anymore. Apparently todays component video cables will not be able to transfer the 148.5 MHz signal needed to accomodate a solid picture at that resolution (thanks google).
It didnt work for me when I tried to do it wit my X360.

Most Samsung HDTVs support 1080p via component. That's how my 360 is currently connected and it works perfectly.

I've never seen any. The picture quality seems to be just as good as what my PS3 outputs and the PS3 is doing 1080p via HDMI. No complaints at all.

Great, thanks for the spot on info
The TV i'm looking at has 2 component, 2 hdmi and 1 vga input... I've already got 2 component sources other than the 360 so I was looking to stay away from component anyway and go stratight with VGA.

Also, one more post, I swear this is the last. Just so you know for the future, here's how it breaks down with the 360 connections:
HDMI and VGA
- Supports 1080p in all games (all will upconvert automatically if not already 1080p).
- Supports 1080p with the HD-DVD add-on.
- Will upconvert all regular DVD's to 1080p.
Component
- Supports 1080p in all games (all will upconvert automatically if not already 1080p).
- Supports a max of 1080i with the HD-DVD add-on.
- Will NOT upconvert regular DVD's, they play in their native 480p format.
