Quick WinXP file sharing question

Wrong forum I know but the fastest responses here:

How do you password protect a drive thats shared on your workgroup in WinXP? I'm trying to look and I'm going crazy. Google is unhelpful. I did uncheck the "Simple File Sharing" under Options->View and can set permissions but no password option like in 98. Anyone have any ideas?

That's not true. I can't find it either.. been wondering the same thing.

I don't think you can natively password protect a drive in Windows XP. There is software out there that allows you to do it, however.

Hey Muck - thanks for the info. From the hour and a half reading I've done tonight and pouring through Group Policy among other things, it seems apparent that you can't. (Apparently you couldnt in Win2K either)

😱 I just figured out how to share my files with WinXP. I know I suck but for some reason the obvious wasnt obvious to me and I thought I had to make a user on the machine or something. But I would like to know how to password protect it myself, what is that software called?
