My friend has a Pentium III (around a gig) 256mb ram, and we are deciding which video card is better.. My instincts tell me a 9200 pro (unsure of mb) would be a better card, but being that it is PCI makes me wonder. We have a geforce 4mx (64MB) agp as an option as well..

I realize that they both suck, no need to mention that ;) Also keep in mind one is PCI and one is AGP!

Thanks!

oh sorry, I dont know much about PCI, but i think at that low power card level it wont matter that much, so I still say 9200

Yep thanks.

i know the 9200pro would be faster, but the thing is its PCI. So Im not sure if a geforce4mx AGP would be better or not.

Your specs look just like his by the way. How does that run RTCW/Quake 3/Enemy Territory if you have ever tried? He wants to play Enemy Territory really badly with me and my friends.

Well, an AGP 9200 with 128-bit memory is a pretty-close match to a GF4 MX440 with 128-bit memory. A 9200 Pro is going to be clocked a bit faster than a stock 9200, but some GF4 MX's can also be overclocked. This assumes both are AGP. Given that the GF4 MX is AGP, and the 9200 is PCI, I would probably pick the GF4 MX myself, although if you need high-res 2D, then I would go with the Radeon, because the ATIs generally have better image-quality. If the Radeon 9200 has 128MB of RAM, then I would probably go with that over the GF4 MX, even if it was PCI, because most games load textures and stuff into the card's RAM, and with that much RAM, you wouldn't even need to swap textures over the PCI bus then (while playing).

9200pro definately. I've used both as AGP cards, and the GF4 MX440 cards really suck. I assume that's what model you are refering to there.
