type in "prompt" (turn interactive prompt to off) before you type mput or mget, otherwise it'll ask you to confirm each file one at a time.

Also bin if binary files.

Drag n Drop. Who FTPs with the command line?

I do all the time. Why waste time with installing an app with pretty pictures on a workstation to do what I can do with a couple of simple commands in a command window?

Also "hash" if you want to see hash marks being printed on the seen as the files are transferred/copied. :p

That's why I still use my 10 year old copy of WS_FTP LE.

Just to recap for the lazy:
bin
prompt
hash
mget *.* or mput *.* (Assuming you are already at the proper local and remote dirs).

status before the mget/mput will confirm the settings.

Shouldn't this be in Software? Paging Nik.
