ahhh, the uselessness of the English System :D

sorry, I knew at one time, but I have taken it upon myself to bring SI units to ALL of the world so I have forgotten.

It is an abbreviation for "libra," the Latin word for a unit of weight.

agreed SI is better, but I need to know this for class.

Maybe, "Libra per second"????????????

It originated in ancient England and started out as slang in some of the more popular pubs. Due to the puritanical nature of the times, many different codes and phrases with hidden meaning were developed in order to avoid offending those of a more delicate nature.

It means "Large Boobs".

I always though a 'slug' was 16 lb force.

Either way, though, it hardly matters - imperial measurements are dead for any important work. :)
