Quick Voltage Q. for FX overclock

I wanna boost my A64 FX-53 Clawhammer up to 2.6GHz but I can't find the right voltage for it.
At default it runs on [auto] setting in BIOS at 1.5V 2.4Ghz.
I've been reading and doing overlocking for a while now, but somehow I am still frikin stupid.
I'm scared ****less that I will fry my FX by going to high with the voltage.
I've tried 2.6GHz 1.575V and it wouldn't boot. (I bumped the multiplier up to 13, FSB or HTT staying at 200MHz and 5x/auto for Hyper transport link)
Any suggestions?
I also don't understand the CPU/RAM ratios, how to set it and what they mean.

Thanks alot!

Since you have an FX, just up the multiplier. You already did that, but this time, add a little less voltage. Sometimes, voltage isn't the answer.

somehow that doesn't make sense.
More speed, less voltage? This isn't a new marchitecture! I'ts overclocking!
:-D

As I thought, turning the voltage down did not work.
It wouldn't boot, I didn't even get a BIOS report "the girl sfreaming CPU failed test" or something of the link.
I have it running at 2.6GHz with 1.6V. I'm off to torture it with prime95, but i'm kind scared that i Might fry my precious FX because even though it runs, the voltage that it has isn't quite right.
I also have Cool n' Quiet enabled to reduce heat and power when I'm not using my PC while overclocked.

Well then it seems I've murdered it. Because I was running it at 1.575V for a while.
It wasn't 1.6 it was 1.575.
It only booted up in 1.575v, but somehow my whole windows start-up and my desktop statup programs seemed to load slower, ironically.
Prime95 returned an error after running for 15 seconds.
I boosted the Voltage up to 1.59V thinking it needed more, but it still got errors in P95.
I'm back to default 1.5V @ 2.4GHz and prime95 doesn't report errors immediately anymore, but my windows loading is still slower.
I really can't find the right voltage for this freaking overclock!
Can you help?

1.6v is fine for a 130nm chip, it's less than 7% increase from the 1.5v default vcore.

I'd be more concerned about the heat, though, so be sure to keep your temps down. Also, you might want to use rightmark (or something of the sort) to have a lower clockspeed at lower voltage available when you're not maxed out.

I have AsusProbe to monitor the heat and a 4000RPM 90mm fan on the CPU that I can turn up if i see it overheating.

I was surprised 1.6 would be to much for 130nm, thanks for clearing that up.

What is rightmark? I don't understand what you meant with lower clockspeed and voltage when not maxed out. Do you mean cool and quiet?

What would be the voltage limit to my 130nm FX, if not 1.6?

on a .130nm u can do 1.7 on good air 🙂 but 1.6 is more realistic for 24/7 use.. I am running my athlon 64 3200+ @ 1.6 voltage 24/7 on a hyper 6.

I agree, 1.65 is pretty common

and what is the clock speed!?!?! Plaese post teh MHz as well as the voltage so I can get a rough idea of what i should set

Clawhammer != Winchester.

see my sig i am running 2.5Ghz, dont forget you have a larger core 130nm compared to my 90nm winchester, and a larger core will handle/need more volts .. so i would say under good cooling you can go upto 1.65v and still be safe (also depends on temps aswell)

You're running 2.5GHz with WHAT voltage?
I need a MHz **AND** Voltage input, so I can decide what's best for my baby.
Preferrably a 130nm chip, since with a 90nm its hard to compare :-/

edit - oh stupid me, it's said up there. 1.6v 2.5ghz
hmmmm, well thx
