Quick vid card memory question.

Hey all, I have a random OEM card that I can't quite figure out the memory for.

It's an 8600 GS (yes, gS, and no it's not a laptop gpu, it's a real full card), and has eight times K4N56163QI-ZC25 RAM chips visible on the top of the PCB (see http://www.inaudible.co.uk/games/ebay/86001.jpg ). These are aparently 256 Mbit each, which suggests to me it's a 256 MB card.

Yet in a PC it reported 512 MB, which may be something to do with me also having onboard graphics, which are also using main memory for graphics mem too.

Could someone enlighten me as to exactly which it would be, and why it would report 512 if it was 256? Thanks.
