Quick tire rim to shaft connection question

I am purchasing this wheel set for my project:

I will have a chain go around the sprocket attached to the wheel. My question though is how do I firmly attach a shaft to the wheel without it spinning on the interior? For this wheel do I get a 3/4 inch shaft? This wheel will be a singe wheel for the front of a tricycle type of setup. This means that the shaft will run through from one side to the other.

Attack the shaft with a milling machine and cut out a keyway. Take a broach to the inner hub of the wheel for the other half of the keyway. Drop in an appropriately-sized key and...wow...secure connection.
