It's a long time since I've built a PC, back in the days of 4in1 drivers and all that poo :)

So, I have:

Asus A7N266 VMSE (vga/lan/audio/etc) motherboard
AMD XP2200+ chip
Maxtor 40GB drive
512MB PC2700

Installing windows 2000 on it.

Anything I should know, or just plug it all in and go for it? Anything that needs to be done at an early stage (like the via 4-in-1 drivers of late).

CHeers,

Just plug it all in
install windows.
Install the latest mobo drivers
Install DX9a
Install the latest video drivers
Install the latest sound drivers
Install the latest other drivers.
Update all parts of windows
Then install anything else.
Done.

I usually make some basic bios adjustments first ( can do the fine tweaking later). The basic stuff you can figure out from reading the manual if you are not familiar with it. I also always reboot after the installation of each driver set.

OK, excellent. The nice thing about it being an all-in-1 board is that I was fairly sure there wouldnt be any conflicts which may have required odd work arounds etc :)

sorted.
