When you are done cooking on there, get two paper towels soaked (dripping soaked), unlug the grill and put the wet paper towl on the grill and close it.
After eating, just wipe it off with a dry paper towel and it's as good as new.
Just thought I'd share, as it saved me a lot of time from scraping cooked on stuff from the grill.

And if you're cooking steak, make sure you pour all the oil and grease back on as it drips out. Don't let it go to waste!!

I usually let mine stay hot and clean itself. What doesn't burn off I brush off while in the sink with running water over it (unplugged).

Ditto. I normally leave mine running for a few min (5ish) after I am finished cooking, everything drys up and I can just brush it off.

you put the two wet towels on the grill when its still hot and wait a while ?
i have to try that...but somehow i doubt it might work..the amount of sticky/hard grease is usually extreme..takes me 10mins of scrubbing everytime...

Try it.
I had the same problem and the soaked paper towel thing works really well...just right when your done throw the soaked towels on...a bunch of steam comes out, but just let it sit for about 15 mins and everything should be able to wipe off.

How can not cleaning with soap be sanitary?

I realize that all the nasties on it are going to be dead because of the temperature, but they are airborne you know .. lol

Shrug.

They are a PITA to clean. I'll have to try the methods mentioned here, although we haven't used it in a long time.

LOL I think I pull a Skoorb all the time then.

Anyway, I've often said to myself... this thing is supposed to save time cooking but it sure doesn't help when cleaning it takes twice as long as a frying pan. :| I'll have to try the wet napkins trick.

I run it under the faucet while it's still hot. The steam action blows it all away.

Skoorb here: Here is how I cook my foreman, when I have to. I plug it in and leave it turned on. I take a wet paper towel and wipe it across the top part. That cleans that. The bottom part, caked with cooked food, is harder. For this I put the white trough underneath the forman, and I run a small glass of water across all of the veins on the bottom part. It will sizzle and burn. Then I use a paper towel to wipe that muck away. Do that 2-3 times and it will clean off any crap on the foreman.

This DOES work for food that has been cooked onto food cooked onto food. You don't have to do it on fresh cookings. It will take care of weeks of build up :D

you're gonna heat it up again before you cook anything the next time. i think it's hot enough to kill anything that might've settled in on the surface.

I'm sure the steam is basically softening up whatever is left over on the grill which makes it easier to clean. Same as soaking it in water except the stem is probably hotter and works better. And since you aren't supposed to soak it in water....

Anybody that cleans either a non-stick or a cast iron surface with soap is most likely a little messed up upstairs...
