Okay, so here's my setup:
Dad has a projector he has access to so we are planning on going out in our family room and watch both LOTR movies before the third one. The family room speakers are pretty cheap, but doable. I have Z560s hooked up to my bedroom computer, so I'm wondering how well they would do in a larger room. I'm not sure of the exact size, but it's a medium (long) sized room. Would they be powerful enough to have an enjoyable movie experience?

Thanks. :)

Give it a try. Since your family will be watching it, the volume should be sufficient.

Well, I have the cheap stereo ones, but they do sound okay. I just didn't know if computer speakers were up to the job.

Because it take a while to disconnect everything from my room and set it up in the other room... it's a lot easier to see if anyone has tried this already.

z560s should have sufficient grunt and low-end to get decent response in a small room. Don't expect to knock paintings off the wall, though.

move them, you may end up just using the sub from the 560's depending on how much power those other speakers give out

Yeah, they should be fine, but Howard had a good point in wondering about the cable length...you might have to just put everything up front
