Quick Tax - Canadian Tax Program - Beware

I think this is more of an off topic post then a true software forum post...... but move it if you like.

I usually do the taxes for my family (5 people) and all I ask for is that someone buy the tax program.

Usually we use Quick Tax but this year the software only allows 2 full returns (also 18 returns under $25K, which does not help me).

The 2006 version allowed 5 full returns and it's says so clearly on the box but the 2007 version has only 1 line at the bottom of the back of the box.

If you need more returns then you have to pay $15 each for additional returns.

Looks like I'll be switching to Cantax, Taxwiz or U-file.

Cheers,
Aquaman

'Family' probably means immediate family which would be two parents plus children...

Since it allows 18 filings for returns under $25K (are your children making more than 25K???), this should work for 99.9% of the families out there....

No..... I do returns for my parents and some of my siblings........ just sucks that they changed the amount of returns you can use per license....... Quick Tax probably has a large share of the market but I can see many people switching to other programs that allow more returns.

Cheers,
Aquaman

I'm fortunate in that my father-in-law is a kick-ass accountant, and does all our stuff for free, and maximizes everything. Prior to that, I did my family's stuff in Quick Tax too ... I'll let my brother know. Thanks!

the company is trying to limit their product to one per household...IMO, this is not unreasonable and prevents friends from sharing this product. However, if they lose customers because of this, their strategy will have backfired.
