Quick Sata system question

Ive been thinking of getting that 74gb WD 10krpm raptor drive for my main hd. I do alot of dvd encoding and authoring as well as photoshop and such, so I could use the extra speed. My question is, can you have a main drive as sata and then still connect IDE hds as slaves? or maybe even vise versa if I so desired? Thanks.
 
One thing, your IDE drive will not be slaved. Put it at the end of the IDE cable and set jumper as master. Don't install the IDE drive until after you have installed the OS to your SATA drive.
