Ok, in english

Is there a raid controller (or set-up) that allows 3 drives to be used in a 0+1 setup, PROVIDING the 1 is double the data size of the 2 in 0.

To make an example:

having 2 30Gb GXP's in RAID 0

and one 60Gb GXP as the mirror(or anything larger than the raid 0)

Whats the betting thats not possible?? I dunno why, probably something to do with replication? dunno - anyone?

No - the array will recognize each drive as the smallest one. If you have 2 30gig hdds in raid 0, and a 60gig hdd as a mirror (this would be raid 5 I believe) the array would be seen as 3 30gig hdds. Also in IDE RAID you must have evan numbers of drives either 2 or 4. Adaptec makes an IDE RAID 5 card, but kiss your wallet good bye - it's expensive.
