Okay when I play games with my headphones pugged into the front of my case I tend to get some noise in the background. However this only applies when I play games, i.e. Company of Heroes, but when I listen to music, i.e. through foobar2000, I don't get any interference. To use the front headphone jack the wire does go over my gpu. Can anybody help me figure out why there is interference when I'm playing games? Is it the gpu, and can I fix the problem with a sound card? Has anybody else faced a similar problem?

integrated sound sucks, that's all I can tell you. it jams signals with the motherboard technology and is given the lowest priority in the architecture priorities, thus you will get crappy sound if you're running a game that requires a lot of juice

lower the sound options settings so that the circuit signals aren't jammed so much by the integrated sound

get an X-fi music card or go pick up a cheap 30 USD sound card

the x-fi cards are silicon-colored black. "once your soundcard is black, you never turn back."
